The Disposable Protective Covers are made of clear plastic, no latex, and are designed to cover the Venoscope® II so that blood or body fluids do not contaminate the light. The covers are packaged in a convenient tear away pack of 50 covers per pack.
Simply tear one of the disposable protective covers off the pack and slip the Venoscope® II into it. The cover is designed to fold over to cover the entire light. Pull the cover over the arms so that there is a clear field of vision between the arms when in use.
If you choose to use the Velstretch Straps, simply cut away the area over the velcro pad and attach the strap. If the strap becomes contaminated, you can order more. After use, discard the disposable protective cover. You may wipe the light with alcohol preps or bleach wipes for added protection. Do not submerge or Autoclave.
NOTE: For sterile procedures – The Venoscope® II can be inserted into a sterile glove with the fingers pulled over the arms for PICC lines or other sterile procedures. It is best to assess the patient, with the tourniquet in place, prior to creating the sterile field and prior to inserting the Venoscope® II into the sterile glove. The target vein can then be marked with a surgical marking pen or some other landmark and the sterile procedure can begin.
